  1. These are the instructions for Video Strip Poker Version 2.56

  4. Requirements
  5. ===========

  7. You must have Windows.
  8.  
  9. This game requires the Visual Basic runtime module called "VBRUN300.DLL".
  10. It is required of all programs written in Microsoft's Visual Basic to run,
  11. and it's free. If you don't have it, see the "Where to get VBRUN300.DLL"
  12. section in this file.

  14. You need a video card capable of displaying 256 colors in 640x480 mode.  The 
  15. High color modes are supported in Video Strip Poker versions <2.56, such as
  16. 1.01.
  17.  
  18. If you are using Windows 95, and are running in 640x480 mode, the game screen
  19. takes up the full length of the desktop.  If your taskbar obscures part of
  20. the screen, you will probably want to turn on the taskbar's auto hide feature.

  22. How to Play
  23. ===========

  25. Video Strip Poker is a variation of the standard Jacks or Better video poker
  26. machines.  It remains to be among the more popular versions of video poker
  27. because of its fairly simplicity of play (thankfully, Jacks or Better video
  28. poker is probably the easiest to program as well).

  30. If you are already familiar with video poker, you can probably get started
  31. right away, since Video Strip Poker plays identically to that. If you've
  32. never played before, a few words about basic game play might be needed.
  33.  
  34. First off, you need to place your bet.  Video poker machines take from one to
  35. five coins for each hand.  To insert your coins in Video Strip Poker, you
  36. simply press a button for the amount you want to bet.  The payoffs are
  37. proportional to the amount bet in all cases except for the royal flush.
  38. For bets from one dollar to four dollars, you win 250 times what you bet if
  39. you get a royal flush. However, if you have bet five dollars and happen
  40. to stumble across a royal flush, the payoff is 800 times your bet, which
  41. is $4000.  So for this reason (and the fact that it makes the game move a lot
  42. quicker) you should always bet five dollars.

  44. After your bet has been placed, you will be dealt five random cards.  Since
  45. your initial hand will probably not be all that great, you are allowed to
  46. trade any or all of your cards for new ones to tryto build a better hand.
  47. Video poker assumes that you want to get rid of all of them, so if there are
  48. any that you want to hold, you have to tell the computer you want to keep
  49. them.  To do this, you simply click the cards you want to hold with the
  50. mouse.  When you do this, the word hold will appear in front of them,
  51. telling the computer to leave that one alone.  If you click a card to hold,
  52. and then change your mind, simply click it again and it will untag it.

  54. Once you have decided which cards to keep, you click the DRAW button and
  55. all the cards youdid not chose to keep will be replaced, hopefully giving
  56. you a much better hand.  If you do get a hand that was worth something,
  57. the computer will tell you what your hand was, and will add the
  58. amount won to your bankroll.

  60. If you want to see the payoff schedule there is a "show payoffs" button that
  61. will replace the model's  photograph with the game's payoff schedule.
  62. You can keep the payoff schedule up there while you play the game (at
  63. times it may be inappropriate to have nude women on your computer screen),
  64.  or you can click the "show picture" button at any time.

  66. You start out with $100. If you lose this, the game is over.  If you play
  67. well,and have fairly good luck, your bankroll will get bigger.
  68. When you reach  $200 and $300, the photo will change each time to something
  69. a little more  revealing.  Since this is the shareware version, the photo
  70. will not change any more after $300. You can still continue to play as
  71. long as you like however.

  78. The version you have is the freeware version.  It has one opponent and three
  79. fairly clean photos. Some of the original photos had to be cropped,
  80. or substituted to make it into the freeware version because they were
  81. too risque.  If you want to get the full version, with morerevealing photos,
  82. five stages of undress, and an additional bonus opponent, you can order it
  83. directly from me, or order online on Compuserve.  To order Video Strip Poker 
  84. on Compuserve, GO SWREG, and use your credit card.  The shareware registration 
  85. number is 9695.

  117. By the way, everything in the game is copyrighted, so if you do give away
  118. the shareware version, you must not tamper with any part of it, add anything,
  119. or leave anything out.

  123. The picture files are your normal every day Windows BMP files, so you can
  124. load them up in any paint program and draw moustaches on the girls if
  125. you want.  Or you could scan pictures of yourself, you dog, etc. and use
  126. those for your own amusement.  Do not substitute, modify, or remove any
  127. photo included in Video Strip Poker when you distribute it. It must
  128. be in the same condition it was in when you found it.

  130. Since the photos are all copyrighted, you cannot distribute them except in
  131. the context of Video Strip Poker.  Do not send the picture files to your
  132. local BBS, unless you send them in the whole Video Strip Poker freeware

  154. Where to get VBRUN300.DLL
  155. ========================

  157. The zip file for Video Strip Poker was getting pretty big, so vbrun300.dll
  158. might not be included with your copy.  If you are a Compuserve user,
  159. it is pretty easy to find.  If you use the Compuserve File Finder, and do
  160. a search for "vbrun300.*" it should find several copies for you to
  161. chose from. You should probably download it right into your Windows directory
  162. so any other programs that require it will be able to use it.

  165. should be able to find it easily.
